Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I'm going to be using this to record on using a DAW programmed called reaper
http://www.reaper.fm/

and a drum programme called EZ drummer
http://www.toontrack.com/products.asp?item=11

..both are large programmes and I need them to run FAST even with a good few plug ins installed as well. I dont want the screen hanging etc...oh and it must have a very low latency.

The thing also needs to be used with microsoft office, skype (webcam mic) and have a decent soundcard and usb ports etc.

I need max memeory, max speed and I want a real keyboard...no touchy screeny jobs.

Needs to work well on wi fi..bluetooth and have a cd/dvd drive.

I looked at
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0373583

and an HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition customizable Notebook PC

but I cant seem to find thenm from a uk supplier in budget.

Any thoughts?

Go for anything with an i3 or above processor and at least 4gb of ram. I've got a Toshiba Satellite C660 which has 6gb ram and an i3 processor, and running windows 7, and I got it as I needed to edit 1080p/50(fps) full HD video and every other machine bar one in my work struggled with this amount of data crunching off my camcorder (10 minute video file is about 2gb off the cam)
If mine can cope with that and render it in real time in the editor, it should be up to the job you need. Try Curry's, they had some good deals when I looked just before Christmas
If you can get it, go for an i5 or i7 processor, but I very much doubt you will get an i7 one for that sort of dosh. Ram is cheap enough so if it comes with less than ideal, you are only looking at another £20 or £30 to upgrade it with an extra 2 or 4gb slice.

The spec of that is right up there, but I couldn't find anything that good in the UK for that sort of money, and I'd want a warrantee worth the paper it was written on if spending £500.

I will say that whilst my laptop I'm generally very happy withn I'd like a bigger HDD as mine is only 150 meg, and the internal speakers are a bit pants in comparison to my other older Pentium dual core HP G5000. Steer clear of the AMD processors also, they are apparently a good deal behind the Intel ones if you need good processing speed.
