On the way home tonight, I came past some school kids putting flowers down - checked online when I got home and found this.

Jesus Christ. I used to cycle that way to my old summer job.

Where that happens it starts to get narrower and I personally wouldn't want to be overtaken along there, although people would frequently push past into oncoming traffic.

Again, very sad. Especially when it's a route you do.

Time to bring back public hanging ........... If suspicions are found to be correct not only did the driver hit the cyclist at some ridiculous speed, but they were drunk or druggied up or both. Hang 'em, end of. It would be a deterrent to other drivers and satisfaction for cyclists that the authorities will not tolerate this type of behviour any more.

My heart felt sympathies to the cyclist's family, colleagues and friends. It's about time this poor standard of wantingly dangerous driving made national headlines.

I'm surprised it hasn't. But then if it did, I suppose people would be saying the usual: cycling is dangerous... (nah, speeding /drunk drivers are dangerous)

This is on one of my regular commutes. Drunk or drugs make little difference on this section of road. From before the m25 bridge through to the Weybridge turn off there's at least one trap for cyclists every 50 yards. When I go that way, which I avoid if at all possible, I come out the other end exhausted just from the effort to save my own skin.
