I do think James Bond jumped the shark a long time, but it is a credit to the power of the franchise that it has carried on as long as it has. I liked the Connery films best. Partly this is because the films could be taken semi-realistically before the trend for ever topping their stunts and action sequences took root. It's also because Connery could play the part of a charming sociopath to a T. The George Lazenby film was a bit different to the Connery films, because the Lazenby Bond had a modicum of compassion. He was still good and OHMSS was a great film. Some of the Roger Moore films were good. He was a very different Bond. It's a pity he was so old when he got the part, because he was better as the Saint, and he's not a very versatile actor. I did like Man with the Golden Gun and Live and Let Die. Dalton was too dull, Brosman was too pretty and Daniels is too charmless. Also the music has gone right down hill. The John Barry scores used to account for half the success of those films. There seems to be no one around who writes those great theme tunes now.
