Dont usually watch this but Charlie Boorman was on and he's pretty cool. (BTW this is on right now on repeat)

..the thing that REALLY irks me about this show is that when they do test drives and stuff is that they keep looking towards the camera all of the time. It doesnt take much time with your eyes off the road for something bad to happen and even if the car was on a trailer (which I dont think it is) it leads to the impression with young drivers that this is perhaps acceptable.

i think you will find most of the time they are on closed roads, but it is the same on top gear, and it irks me too sometimes

notice how the tv presenter of fifth gear has attempted to take traits of clarkson?
They do some interesting things on that show, but they really should avoid attempting humour, especially in a top gear like fashion

There is only one Topgear and one Clarkson. Its a poor substitute for Topgear and everyone knows it.

I dont know about the closed roads though.. 5th gear seem to be driving around in traffic on half their tests.

Top Gear is simply car porn featuring cars most people willl never see let alone drive. As for Clarkson, I believe he is at least partly culpable for the idiots who treat the daily commute to work as a race track! Obviously we cyclists would never consider such outlandish behavior, commuter racing the very thought. Anyway Fifth Gear has the smokin Ms Butler-Henderson.

That newish bloke on fifth gear (with the appearing/disappearing designer stubble) really winds me up. His delivery always sounds angry/snarly and he's just irritating. The other one, the chubbier one, seems fine as you get the impression he'd be good to talk to down the pub.

None of them are as cute as Richard Hammond though

Cute he may be, however I find him really annoying too, thinks he is funnier than his script is.. imo!

Well they're all a bit self-important for my liking (on both programmes), and Top Gear was getting rather samey, but it's still great fun. The sailing to Calais programme was just brill - but then the BBC have repeated it hundreds of times. But the Hamster's cuteness means he can get away with stuff that that annoying chap on Fifth Gear can't; in my opinion anyway.

Fifth Gear seems to compensate with about 7 presenters, 3 of whom are obviously very good drivers. The old format of just road tests and fewer presenters in a 30min slot was better.

Perhaps they can talk to camera because they are on the back of a flatbed being driven around?

Never watch it.

Thanks for that:wacko: Was that to boost your number of posts, or because you think you are really important and people were sitting here waiting for your input?
Ive never found 5th gear as good as TopGear, but i dont mind watching them. Except when they are on Dave, and they are just repeated over and over.
The celeb in a reasonably priced car bores me, but the challenges they do where they buy a car and mess around i think is pretty good.
5th gear is a tad boring sometimes, but its not bad to kill time.
