The Channel 4 coverage of the 1989 Tour de France (when Greg Lemond beat Laurent Fignon by 8 seconds) inspired me to buy a bike and start cycling again after a 20 year layoff! I stopped cycling aged 13 when my bike was stolen from the school bike sheds.
