I got the new BB30 bearing late yesterday afternoon and I was tempted (after discovering why the other BB30 seized ... rust) to remove the sealed covers, degrease both bearings, then fill them with the ceramic grease before fitting into the bike.

Then I read this part on the Finish line web page
Safety, Health and The Environment:
Finish Line’s Ceramic Grease features an Inherently Biodegradable formulation which means that between 20% and 60% of the product’s base oils will degrade within 28 days.

Now am I to be worried about that bit? or is that the result of the grease being in an open enviroment.

your thoughts please

Hi you would be better using a oil based oil as most biodegradable greases are fine unless they get wet and can wash straight out of the bearings.
A good universal grease will do as road bike bearing do not creat much temperature
