Like you G3, we live a short walk from Peterboroughs very popular firework festival. We (wife, son, DIL, 3 grandkids and myself) walk to the perimeter and got 1/2 hours worth of circa £20,000 fireworks. Walk inside, it would have cost us £55 ...we were talking to a fella stood next to us, he said last year they (2 adults 3 kids) spent nearly £100 in there.

Yeah, it would have been nice to go in and take the kids on the fair, get a better atmosphere etc etc...but they get very very well looked after in every other way whenever we can, so they're not missing out too much.

Why would you have had to pay for gbb? When we used to go out to see things with my M+D or MrsA_T's M+D we always paid for them as there were 4 of us and 2 of them.... I've obviously got that wrong for about 26 years...

Normally we'd take and pay for the grandkids. (Any event, occasion, not judt fireworks) As their mum n dad came along too, they'd probably have paid for themselves. Either way, £55 was the cost saved to our party.
I'd happily pay for the whole party, but not £55 just as a starter at a fireworks show. Its just not good value, I'd rather pay that kind of money and all go for a pub lunch or something.

They had a fireworks event at a pub i passed on my ride last night. I stopped to watch the display but left after a minute or so. Not only did they have fireworks but also some horrendous "thud thud" chav music booming out to accompany the fireworks. Plenty of idiots there getting sozzled too!
