Thanks sleekitcollie. Warmer weather certainly helps. I haven't ridden since November but I have run 3 or 4 times a week. Over here the road surfaces suffer badly during the winter months from ice, low temperatures and snowploughs. After the "Spring clean-up" I'll roll the bike out again. I'm happy doing anything around 50 miles but more than that is tough on the old body as well as the old mind!

Did a 50 miler yesterday as fast as I could and came home in a tad under 3 hours allowing for 2 short breaks. Headwind on way out and cross wind on way back. I am aiming for my first 100 miler in early May in the Tour of Sligo in the company(some chance) of Sean Kelly!

Last tuesday I did my first solo over 100 mile.

I got a puncture on a decent after climbing from a village called lofthouse, 40mph+ on a front flat, was scary!, then I found my pump was broke. So I cycled to Bedale to get it pumped up abit, then rode home, for about 60 miles I was dead, 15 odd mph all the way home, into an energy sapping headwind. Even slightly little bump felt like I was climbing a 25%er on a normal day, truly awful, don't know how I managed to get myself home I felt awful.
