finally back on the commute this morning (17 miles each way), using an old harry hall mixte framed bike with rack and panniers.
the bike's a bit twitchy and i felt a bit nervy, especially with all the dead leaves on the downhill sections and paths, but got there in the end in a not-too-shabby time. met a club mate at one point which was nice </fastshow>.
a bit belt and braces in terms of lights (on bike and helmet) and postie's hi-viz tabard, but having had a smidsy, i'm more bothered about being seen than ponceing around like i'm riding the tour de france.
november's an odd time to start back, but, apart from slightly cold toes and some coughing, i've survived well enough to contemplate the return leg, which is uphill
