A big thank you to all.

I have been on to a solicitor as 3 days on my neck, back, shoulder and hip are all aching like a bugger and my neck particularly is very stiff and painful. The solicitor has advised me about keeping receipts for things (eg painkillers) but I wanted to ask some advice from folks here.

My bike seems to have got off lightly but I could do with it checking over as the gears now don't change properly. I did a very gentle cycle 50 yards down the street and you can't change gears up. This will need fixing.

Should I take it to a LBS and get an estimate or just get it fixed and hold the receipt for when the claim is settled?

Any advice gratefully received thanks.

Get it to a LBS, there may be more damage than first appears. You may also need to do this just to prove your bike was actually damaged & that you are not trying to get replacement parts for ones that had worn out/were already damaged.

Hi and thanks for your replies.

The accident happened at 10.20 last night and to be fair the guy bundled me and my bike into the car and took me straight to the hospital. Unfortunately I had to wait till 1.55am to see a doctor. So the Police were never at the scene as he took me straight to A&E.

The guy headed off to town to report the accident to the Police but came back to the hospital and said the Police station was closed and that he had had to speak to them by phone and they said he should report it today. He phoned me today to say he was going to do this after his work.

I'm wondering whether I should ring them myself.

EDIT- just to add I managed to miss the guy's car though Lord knows how.

Couldn't have picked a better guy to almost get run over by!

Get well soon!
