Story:
I owned a 2004 ridgeback mx2 from the age of 10 which after being in brighton again for 5 day was stolen. It's sad but oh well.
Now this is a long time in advance ergo a few months but I am looking for an adventure road bike around £700. I've bad a look and three I've seen are genesis cda20 or 10 depending on where you buy. Rapide rc2(these two might be because I trust ridgeback stuff) and in evans they obviously recommended their pinnicle akrose series but being a novice who am I to ignore advice?
Reason for the crosser is 1.) Visiting family who live in the woods down a dirt track
2.) Bigger tyres should be less bumpy?

Any advice and bikey to look at would be lovely
Many thanks

I have a ridgeback Voyage and although it is quite heavy by comparison to a road bike, it is great for going down a dirt track.
Change the saddle, mind.
