In a generic sense they usually provide a bowser with water or sometimes it is filled with the branded donation sports powder to refill. Food comes in the form of energy gels, energy bars and possibly bananas.

If it's done by wiggle then it should be well stocked, however there is always greedy barstewards that could empty the station in no time - it has been known to happen.

The Wiggle events will usually have bananas, jelly sweets, fig rolls, flapjack and other cakes at the feed stops. They usually (but not always) have High5 gels and there is always a lot of energy drink along with plain water for you to refill your bottles.

I think the whole point of spending £30 to cycle on public roads, is that you get plenty of 'free' food and drink!
Yes, but don't rely on it. Take something at least, so you're not stuck if people before you have hoovered up all the supplies. Plus, there's bound not to be a feed stop when you really need one!

There is no consistent standard amongst feed controls:

- Some organisers charge for food in addition to your fee, though the majority are 'free'.
- Food may consist of anything from a few measly biscuits to a lavish affair. The Forest of Dean Classic are mean enough to cut their bananas in half!
- Many will provide water and sometimes energy drinks.
- If you are a lantern rouge, expect controls to have exhausted their supplies.

In essence, take your own back up supplies as not all events can be relied upon - which then begs further questions. Try to find out from riders what last year's event was like and they may be able to give you some idea.

It turned out they had a wide range of energy foods from bananas and cereal choc bars to energy gels and drinks. At the second one they even had jaffa cake bars
