Yes, I did midlands - somerset - new forest - isle of wight - southampton.

There's so many places in the UK often overlooked, although probably due to unpredictable weather!

How is touring in the south of France, camp hotel etc ... Imagine it to be costly?
The two occasions I stopped in an hotel (due to weather) they where on the dear side E65 B&B and the other the same 1/2 board, but didn't have the luxuary of shopping round. Camping ranged from E6 to E14 per night (though did find one site at E40 but passed on that) Eating out, good Pizza from E7 upto a 7 course meal for E32. Bread/ cake from boulangerie etc possibly slightly dearer than home. Suntan lotion and tooth paste, very expensive. Supermarkets cheaper than home in general.

Edit: Warm showers and Couch surfing are your friends, I got a very warm welcome for 6 nights through my tour.

If you know what's good for you ...
I did my first tour in the UK. I cycled from my house near Bath up to John o'Groats, and then cycled home again. I went up via the West coast and returned via the East. I keep meaning to do something like that again - up to now I've been worried about the weather (I had a lot of rain in Scotland), but after touring in Norway during its wettest summer in a very long time, cycling in Britain will feel dry!

If you fancy abroad, Brittany, France is good touring country.
