I've always had mtb's but now want a road bike.

My question is are they're any tips for findin the right fitting bike?

I'm heavily restricted by my size and financial commitments so I want to make sure I get it right first time.

Are there any tips or is it case of get on it and see what feels right?

I purchased a Decathlon bike and am pleased with it. However, as the change from MTB to road is quite big and Decathlon will only allow you to ride it around the store (same with Halfords) I would suggest a LBS or perhaps Evans/James/Edinburgh Cycles etc. who will allow a full trial......you are not committed but it will give you a very good idea of whether it is right for you.
I've no idea of your age/fitness etc. but lots of manufacturers are introducing 'sportive style' bikes which are full on road spec' but a more relaxed, comfortable position.....and believe me, after a MTB a full on 'head down-bum in the air' road bike will take some getting used to.
