I'm probably giving old news here, but I was having trouble with my rear vee brake snagging. The noodle, being of some age, was the suspect so I hied me to my LBS and bought a flexible noodle. Just the job - ! 
Obviously as they're straight to begin with it makes threading the cable though a doddle and when installed they only bend as much as it necessary to take the cable to the brake unit.
