Beauty of recumbent (or flat bar I suppose). You can operate brakes and gears wearing warm mitts.

Currently planning to be on the ride. Return trip might be interesting as there's engineering works north of Cambridge!
@robjh I use thermal running gloves over my short finger cycling gloves with work quite well. Cold weather cycling gloves are either too big or too small for me.
Hot hand warmer things are quite good too, using them tucked in between the toe covers and shoes has helped the 'feet like blocks of ice' problem.

I really enjoyed this ride last year. I’m sorry to miss joining the recumbent posse this time round but I’m already signed up for the Horsepower 200 audax on Saturday.

The Weather Gods seem to have had a change of heart. Not so cold, but probably wet and with a (sort of) strong tailwind. Although the forecast seem to be changing by the minute, so who really knows...

Always colder at night than forecast temps indicate, plus there will be cold spots. A tailwind will be nice.

Yeah just seen email. Shame but with -3C forecast and wet roads and no trains can understand. Time to plan something for the daytime.

Just spent 3 hours cycling through wet falling snow and ~12mph winds. It was ok (apart from a cold left foot) but not sure I'd want to do that for 8 hours with no train back up!

Plus it’s one thing riding yourself vs. leading a mixed ability and preparedness group in the conditions.

Best decision under the circumstances. I made my own decision yesterday as I saw the temps dropping again, and didn't sign up. There's only so much cold I can take in one night.
