...not too tough on the toughometer.

...nary a blip on the toughometer.

Am idly considering making a toughometer to help FNRttC virgins calibrate their expectations. Any suggestions appreciated.

ultimately though, the original toughometer is colloquially known as "Dr Legg's Cassette", a strange multi cog device with ratios of 13-13-12-12-12-11-11-11-11-10 though the larger cogs never see much wear.

Will this use the same mechanism as the well-known and well-loved "Giveaf*ckometer"?

As used to determine the size of ones giveash*tosphere?

Back to the OP, anything where the contents of a bidon a rendered solid by the weather conditions, anything where the rider ends up damper than the inside of a bidon and anything where the floor of the midway cafe is deeper in water than a well filled bidon can all cause the Toughometer to twitch. All this can be negated by (a) having the right clothing and (b) riding with the Sort of People You Would Like on Your Desert Island (© hatler)

I take it you've been down that recently. When you lot aren't around I descend that hill without brakes. Last week I turned the corner at the bottom, saw what remains of the road and had myself a brown trouser moment.

I rode home that way, and attacked it with gusto. Disc brakes work remarkably well.
