I am going to buy my first folding bike. I have shortlisted 2 models

Dahon vybe C7a £303
Apollo transition/tuck £200

Is the Dahon worth extra money?

Yes. Better in every respect except price, and there's a reason the Apollo's that cheap….

I was thinking off buying from a store after examining it in person  and also to go back in case of any problems.

Please don't buy the Apollo. Folding bikes are great but design and quality are crucial. You would soon get sick of a creaky, fiddly folding bike. Any Dahon or Tern you can find within your budget will give you so much better service and enjoyment. You can often find these on offer if you are prepared to hunt.
Good luck, whatever you decide!

I bought a Dahon, 2nd hand. Much better than the Appollo.
Tern's are similar, but the better specced models have height adjustment of the handlebars, the others don't. I found this an issue at 5ft 11
Also have a look at the bi-fold at decathlon stores.
