Fondriest bike

Can anyone help with information on a fondriest bike I found at the side of the road with a note on it saying free for spares? It has a colombus frame,shimano utegra gears and thats about all I know about it

No idea about Fondriest but is obviously quality. From the looks of the equipment I’d say it’s nineties. For nought it can’t be bad. If free for spares check the frame carefully for damage.. Does it fit you, it’s a rather small size? How many speed is it? Nice find.

Highly regarded Italian manufacturer named after an ex pro cyclist. A friend had an earlier steel Fondriest that got pranged beyond repair - he loved that frame.
Altec reputedly makes a good alu frame, Columbus all good.

Absolutely, great find.

Foundriest was World champion in 1988.

I like that. Fondriest was the Bryan Robson (the Man Utd captain one) of cycling: absolutely brilliant on-form, but so often injured and unable to compete.

That would have been a moderately high end machine in its day. shame it got neglected to that level, but I'm sure the Biggs magic will have it roaming the lanes again soon.

I've had a few and they was all lovely riding bikes. Worth jazzing up a bit that- that stem's worth a few quid on it's own.
