As I'm tucking into a jacket potato (carbohydrate) with tuna (protein) I remembered my MIL reading a book on Food Combining which said that you should try not to eat carbs and protein at the same time as your digestive system struggles with the different elements of the meal. Or something like that

Is there any truth in this or is it a load of old bobbins invented by someone with a diet plan to market?

Just eat!!
I'm normally too busy thinking, "ohh man i'm hungry, give me food" to worry about seperating carbs from protein.

As I've recently been on holiday in the British islands, I have attempted a long-term dietary experiment involving the combining of fish with chips, washed down with double portions of mushy peas and copious amounts of draught bitter.

I must say, it's had a positive effect on my waistline, as there are now several pairs of trousers that I can't get on anymore

It's the whole principle of Michael Montignac's stuff on food - I say that but MM mixes food combining and low GI. It makes an interesting read, and it works, if you can be arsed with the discipline of it all. Problem is, as with any kind of 'specialised' diet, soon as you stop doing it you balloon bigger than you were to start with.

I just got my 'we've not seen you for a while' letter from Slimming World today. They obviously think I'm still a bloater and my 'slimming campaign' (their words) needs some attention...
