I'd bought some while casting around for something son2 could take with him on his DofE practise. It says they have to be refrigerated but quite honestly they'll still be digging them out with the nappies in a thousand years time, the only things which have survived the nuclear holocaust.
Son2 rejected them with the words "they taste really chemical, dad". "You've only tried a tiny corner", I replied and stuck a whole one in my mouth and chewed. Just one chew, the taste hit me then and not being near a bin, I swallowed in wide eyed surprise. "OK, maybe not, just lob the rest in the bin, in case someone else mistakenly eats one", I said. "Emergency rations stroke puncture repair kits, they've missed a marketing trick there".
On the same basis he rejected everything else I'd bought in the same vein but without trying them. Shippams spreads and Primula. Weirdly, I quite like Primula but I'm not sure I want to know how they make it or add it to my regular foods list.
What else should not be called food?
