Actually ... anything like that is similar to the dazzle paint camouflage used on battleships during the two world wars. The stripes act as camouflage in that they break up recognisable patterns (such as the shape of the human body, in this case), thereby rendering you less noticeable than if you just wore a solid block of colour.
