Not collected yet but by the end of the week...... one carrera vituoso alu frame
with forks and crank, why because i bid £11.50 expecting to be outbid, now I have to equip it
so with the budget not very big, and probably using gumtree and evil bay what type of wheels etc should I be looking at?
I have a cheap mountain bike that will probably only raise £40 or so
the other thing is i`m quite unfit and having just passed 45 and I had a fairly largish op for chrons last year
did I mention that it had to be cheap?

Hi Ray, where are you based? You don't say if you plan to build a drop handlebar or flat bar bike?

I have got a smattering of reasonable spare parts eg saddles, a seatpost, a stem and some tyres that you could look at, only be after a fiver or so for each item. Oh and I've got a flat handlebar going spare too.

Cheers
Stu

I dont think I want a single speed.

Also stupid question time...will any 700c wheels fit? I understand that disc ones will not fit as the hub is too wide

no not boring, care in the community ^_^

Just to add to the boredom, I have a mountain bike that seems to weigh as much as my motorbike, when i`m out on that i`m always changing gear(probably beacuse ) but IU havent road a racer/road bike since I was about 18ish

Pretty much any 700c wheel would fit the front, but at the back you need a road hub one as there is a difference in width between mtb/hybrid and road rear hubs (130mm road, 135mm mtb/hybrid).

The most expensive bits are going to be the shifters if you get combined brake-gear levers. Flat bar shifters are a lot cheaper than drop bar ones.

I meant to write that I could not afford gears!

On a MTB I struggle to to that high cadence spinning thing that I can on my roadie.

Hello Ray and welcome. Put the Carrera back on ebay otherwise you will be in serious danger of joining the "more bikes than I need" club. This is a dangerous and nearly always fatal complaint that most users on here suffer from.
Cycleops, how can you say such a thing?
More bikes than we need? We NEED each and every bike we own!
One for long rides, one for medium length rides, one just to nip into town on, one for off road, one fast and light one, one nostalgia bike that we always longed for when we were younger - but couldn't afford.......
