I'm looking to buy a used bike tomorrow, its a Trek 1000, and the frame size is 52cm. I'm 6ft, is it likely to fit ok??

My mtb has a 19" frame which fits perfect, but I understand road bike sizing is completely different...

thanks ;)

How much does it cost to Oldham?
No. Assuming you're a normalish body shape, you'll be wanting at least a 55. IMO.

That's a very little frame for a bloke of your size. I'm 5' 7" and ride 53cm and 54cm frames!

I am 6ft4 and ride a 61cm my boss is 5'11''/6ft and he rides a 58cm Trek 1700... if you get a 52 cm and ride it with any consistancy for more than a few miles at a time you are likely to feel pain... lots of it and in your knees, shoulders, back, neck... errm everywhere iwould say. Riding my Brothers bike for a few weeks while i was sorting my new bike cost me almost £200 in Osteopath bills.

I would wait and get a different one.

not true for all bikes... or very many at all...

Just get measured up properly , its all very well these armchair bike fitters giving you advice, but its your money at the end of the day. Also, have a look at the makers sizing guide. A good bike shop should stick the bike on the turbo and size you up from there. Some have a proper sizing programme. Good luck

On the Specialized website, they tell all the frame geometry and dimensions.
They even tell the 'stand over height'.

Measure your inside leg ( to the method previously described on another thread 'standing minus seated' ) and compare it with Spesh's dimension.

The Spesh 'Stand over height' should be 50 - 60mm less than your Inside leg.

The mass manufacturers are much of a muchness.
