Free compact flash file recovery program?

Hi all,

For work we've taken a series of shots on road safety and unfortunately the CF card on the camera has gone slightly kaput and will not display files (or a folder) when plugged into the computer.

Now, I've run two file recovery programs on the CF card and I can see from the filesizes that the photos are on the card, but both these programs cost £££s and I was wondering if anyone knows anything totally free I can use?

Is it a Sandisk CF?

If it is there should be some sort of CD with the Sandisc CF card to recover.

Bit of an obvious question but could the files be saved in a RAW format that can only be read/seen as images with the camera's own software dSLR specific)

Nope, unfortunately - it was RAW + JPEG.

But it was a Sandisk CF so I'll just pop over to their website and see if they've got any suggestions too. Nice idea.

I would never advocate using torrents to get software, but if I did then I would look for BadCopy Pro for this problem

Try Recuva from the guys that brought you ccleaner. I used this and some trial software that would only rescue a gb or so unless you bought it not long ago.
