HI all,
My little darlin and I are both a bit behind the times with this digital music malarkey having only just put our LPs away in favour of CDs.
What I was wondering was if it is possible to down load music MP3s cleanly, legally and for free? Is there a site that provides this service?
All we are looking for is the odd track. No full albums or compilations. I know people have been prosecuted in the past for battering
this but is there any sort of accommadation for rare/occasional use?

Spotify's good but you can't download and keep music so you need some decent speakers connected to the computer.

My £250 CD unit went up into the loft a few months back along with boxes of CD's. My house is too small to have that stuff taking up space.

I had a while previous to that started using Spotify. I found it so good that's all I use now.

You can buy/dload from Spotify but it does offer a free streaming service. Pretty much any track you can think of with a few notable exceptions.

I liked it so much I suscribed (£5pm) and invested in a DAC to improve the sound prior to feeding it to my HiFi system.

Won't cost you anything to try it out. Def worth a go.

£5? How come I'm paying £9.99 for mine?! (Note to self to check this out tonight when I get home...)

the law is a bit grey if you download digital copies of tracks you own on other media (you have already paid for the license for the music), or at least the government intends to make format shifting legal in its digital bill.

If it's only rare and occasional what's the problem with paying ?

I agree. I use 7digital, usually 79p a track or similar.
