Noticed last night and this morning that the rear wheel on my Allez seems to be 'clicking' noisier than usual when freewheeling. On a quick inspection in the semi-dark, everything seemed to be in order. Wondered whether it could be something to do with the bearings?

The "clicking" is the sound of the pawls travelling over the the teeth inside the hub. The increase in noise is probably down to a loss of grease inside the freehub which makes the metals contact each other with a sharper sounding click.

This comes as standard with any Campag freehubs so is not going to do much damage but it's not too difficult to remove the freehub and re-grease if you want to.

On my hybrid, I took off the freewheel and then cleaned it. I then used Finishline oil in the green bottle and injected it into the feewheel and left to soak in for a few hours. Mine is virtually silent now.

Many thanks both. I am a little mechanically challenged, but add this on the list as another task to learn in maintaining by bike
