I've booked accommodation in the Alps for the second week of January and am planning to drive down with overnight stops there and back to make it easier. I wanted some flexibility over where to stay to allow for weather problems etc. and had assumed that there would be ample hotel rooms available in the cheapo stopover hotels like Campanile etc.
However, a friend of mine travelling later in the season found everywhere full when he stopped at Reims. Has anyone any experience of availability at this time of year in places like Calais, Troyes and Reims?
