middle of nowhere in France
Yesterday must have been road works day here, made cycling a pain, imagine a big lorry (bit like a petrol carrier) at the back is a tube/hose and man on platform holding said hose, lorry stops and man pours little grey SHARP stones into pothole and then moves on to next !! damn stones get everywhere and they sting when hitting you  had to stop at end of road to clean out tyres to stop noise or chance of punture

Fair weathered, fair minded but easily persuaded.
They are all obviously refreshed after their August shut down. Anyway think yourself lucky the pot holes are getting filled. The roads in my part of Kent are poo with no sign of repairs getting done but i'm sure the council are spending my council tax wisely in some other way:dry:

In June one year I needed to cross Puy Mary - a kinda mountain, not a person - when the TdF and etape were due to use it. When I encountered the road closed signs I assumed it was an error as there could not possibly be too much snow and any alternative route was absurdly long. So I carried on. After many, many kilometres, near the summit they were doing the resurfacing. It was like you'd picture Dante's inferno, fiery furnaces and hot pitch and devils with shovels and rakes. The noise was deafening. But i had to press on scrambling on foot with my bike over heaps of melting tar and dodging the devils and monstrous machinery all of which ignored me totally. Eventually I made it onto the velvet-like virgin road surface put down specially for a bike race!

It's a cunning plan, Mort..
