Pork pie fans were not neglected.

The pork pies were sourced from Bentley's in Pudsey.

A pork, garlic and chilli pie promised more than it delivered. Little garlic or chilli evident and oversalted. 5/10. Crust over thick. Tasting panel of four concurred with the notes and score.

Plain pork pie was much better. Great crust texture, and flavour. Filling spicy and seasoned well. No jelly. 8/10. Har to believe that it was made by the same butcher.

The average score for my halal pie was 9.8!! A member of staff and a pupil asked for an extra portion each. Deep joy!

You've performed a "loaves and fishs"* miracle with that one small pie.
*Maybe not the best analogy for a halal pie but I'm not up to speed with my koran?

If our paths cross....

Well, 150 miles is not that long a distance when we are talking about the right pie, now, is it?

Me hungy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too late. All gone. :mrpig:

I'm on a sixty four mile pie quest tomorrow but will be eating all new discoveries on route to provide the pedal power to see me through the forecast snow, sleet and rain. Should add a two or three new tags to my pie chart in North Yorkshire.

Ripon, Masham and Richmond here I come!

Pies are nature's perfect food. Fact.
Appleton's pies, from the Market Square in Ripon, are spectacular examples of nature's perfect food. Fact.

But you've been there.

Where is your pie inspired quest taking you in the fine city of Ripon? Or do you just fancy another pie from Appletons? I wouldn't blame you.

Note: All facts in any of my statements are verified as facts by me.

Edit: I grew up in Ripon. At the age of sixteen, I was 85% Appletons pork pie.

I'll be visiting Marley's in North Street for the first time. I might drop in at Appletons for 'one for the road'.
