[QUOTE 2939437, member: 9609"]A lot of noise in the pond this last couple of nights, RRRiiiibbbiiiiittt - RRRiibbbiiittt - RRiiiibbiiiiitt So sneaked out tonight and caught them at it.... All seems a bit early to me, strange weather and all that.

(i guess those interesting circles are rain drops)

They are rather staid. My local pond seems to be populated by a bunch of rampant swingers.

I miss our pond. By the third year the noise was deafening. Quite why they want to do all that piggyback racing is beyond me. They weren't interested in the egg and spoon at all.

We had a large pond inches away from the house. It was full of frogs so for years we dithered about getting rid of it. Last year I finally dug a new one much further from the house, filled in the old one and built a patio. Although the new one has caught on, we still get frogs turning up on the patio looking puzzled and scratching their heads.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
We have a large pond and already the frogs are there making a racket. Once the tadpoles have sprouted legs, we have to tiptoe everywhere to avoid tiny frogs in the grass. No pun intended

It seems a tad early for them to be making frog spawn, but with the tulips coming up and other spring flowers out maybe springs on the way.

Female amphibians are larger than males because they have to carry a huge quantity of eggs. Its the same with some fish species.
(Yes, I used to be a biology teacher!)
