Are your front and rear discs interchangeable? If so, swap them round (giving the current front one a good clean first) and see if the noise moves to the rear or stays at the front. If it stays at the front then I’d suspect a tiny leak from the caliper.

I know you’ve found no evidence of a leak but I had the same persistent problem appear suddenly and nothing fixed it until I replaced the front caliper.

Looks like the only solution left is a new caliper although you might try Glasgow's suggestion first.

I put it all back together this morning.

I did notice that the disc was rubbing slightly to one side on rotation.

I’ve fixed that.

I will bed the new pads in properly and re test
