I saw someone the other day who had a front light on solid, but it also gave an additional bright flash every second (or slightly less).

I thought it was pretty neat, being able to have steady and flashing in one unit, but I haven't been able to find out what it was. Any ideas?

Here for rides.
I've seen ones with fixed and flashing LED's in the same head unit but actually formed of three separate lenses and LEDs, 1 x XP7 and 2 x XP--E. It was some sort of Magicshine iirc.

not that I'm obsessive about lights or anything

Would it have been a really fast strobe?

I just bought a set of Moon Meteor, and I am chuffed with them having struggle home after on my CatEye packed up on Thursday, they have fast strobe setting not tried it.

No, it was definitely solid, with a brighter single flash every second or less.
Whether it was 2 or more LEDs, I couldn't say, but it looked like a cylinder, so I'd be surprised.

I would avoid the fast strobe. It's bloody annoying, not only too yourself but also to other road users. Making it distracting and hard for people to gauge you speed.

Agreed. I honestly don't see the point.

Cheers, that's exactly it.
Now just need to find the exact model(s) that do it.
All Exposure models do it. I know the Dinotte 400 range does but not sure about their others.

Agreed, I use th eMeteor as my seeing light so solid and a cateye for flashing. Might treat myself to a second set, for my use they are perfect.

I think all Exposure models, front and rear, have a constant low-level light when they are in flashing mode. IMO, it makes a huge difference to their visibility and I nearly always have my Flash'n'Flare on all the time, night and day.

My Max D can do it but I NEVER use it as I think flashing lights (except emergency services) are a menace and should be banned. Period.
On something with the power of the Maxx D, I agree.

On the Flash or Flare, though, particularly next to a Maxx D on it's lowest setting, the flashing is, IMO, eye catching rather than distracting.

I use Knog Frogs in flash mode on my helmet (leave it! ;) ) and the Joystick head mounted on constant too, so I have high power fixed and low power flash on both myself and my bike.

Are fast strobes beyond a certain speed even road legal? I would have thought that regulations would take into account the risk of seizures with fast flashing lights but then maybe not. Anyone know? I have a cheap xmlt6 clone and the flash is frankly dangerous looking, not that I ever use it.
