Fulcrum 5 weird spoke issue

So, my fulcrum racing 5s just came. They look great, except on both wheels, the spokes by the valve hole are silver and round instead of black and flat, is this normal?

yes , think it is to balance the weight of the join on the opposite side of the wheel.

It's a bit weird that they aren't even black... I might get them changed at some point. For now I just really want to get riding on them tomorrow

Just colour 'em in with a permanent marker if it bothers you. Really.

I quite like the distinguishing mark of them. Mind you I would've been happier if the join itself was better machined.
