Fumigating aeroplanes

I got Malaria in Zanzibar in 1994. We were a long way from anywhere (bike touring in Africa!). I passed out and had to be taken by landrover to the other side of the Island to a "hospital". They wanted to take a blood test and I will never forget the doctor apologizing that they didn't have any sterile lancets! I didn't let them anywhere near me and in the end the doctor said there wasn't much point testing me as it was obvious I had malaria anyway. I took myself off and found a cheap hotel as I had pi$$ all money and just holed up for a week and followed the instructions on my anti malarials. That week is a bit of a blur, and I've never felt so ill. I've never had any recurrence though.
