You might find it cheaper to buy a whole rear hub rather than just the freehub. I’ve just had mine done at the lbs. I bought a whole hub for half the price that the lbs could get a freehub on its own from their suppliers. Afterwards you have the bonus of some spare axles, bearings, cones etc...

Your right about safety first for kids. Got the hub replaced for £45 fitted, has been driven a week now., every day for miles, with no noise. Here's hoping that's it sorted. Not sure why it should go bad on such a new bike (just over a year old). Thanks for all your help guys. Any other bike problems I will be back, as its a good forum for information.
