The cadence function is showing on the screen of my Garmin 500 & the sensors on the wheel & crank are registering with alternate red & green lights, but when I download onto PC (Garmin & Strava), there is no cadence report. Any ideas?
Thanks
Brian

Have you paired the cadence sensor with the head unit, i.e. do you see cadence data on screen if you set one of the fields to cadence?

I did Rob & originally got reports. I've just downloaded info on how to re-set so will try that. Thanks for your interest Kind regards Brian

If the 500 is registering the cadence then surely it must be paired correctly. Are you looking in the right place in Strava for the cadence graph.
I think Strava defaults to the 'Elevation' graph when you upload a ride. Above the 'Elevation' graph you will find two tabs - one labelled Elevation and the other Performance. Click on the 'Performance' tab and you will be given options to show Cadence, Heart Rate and Speed. Tick the Cadence box to show a Cadence graph.
When you say you upload to Garmin, do you mean Garmin Training Centre?

Not if the red and green lights are flashing as its picking up the magnet. Will prob need just paired again.

If it's borderline it may have been just ok when he set it up, but is now just too far away to register.

I lost all cadence data on my Edge 500 shortly before Christmas. The original magnet got knocked off the crank. A couple of friends have reported that over time the original Garmin magnets fall out of allignment and the sensor is quite sensitive to this. They ahve also had to re-pair the sensor and head unit from time to time. I replaced the crank magnet with these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XZID34/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00. They are supre powerful and I have found they are much more powerful and does away with the need to have perfect allignment.

I aslo lost my Cadence magnet a good few months ago and after nearly having a hart attack at the price of a new one I searched online and found many others who had experienced the same. The consensus was to buy those powerful magnets and I ended up buying a pack of 10 for little over a couple of quid from ebay and had no problems since! Well only real problem I've had is trying to pull the wee bugger off the crank arm when I giving the bike a good clean. Lol

I got my cadence sensor for Christmas 2011 and it has been great. I lost the pedal magnet very quickly but a rare earth one on the end of my crank worked well. However it has now died. Early December it started losing contact. Annoyingly when this happened the garmin didn't default to GPS so I 'lost' miles. I changed the battery but it still didn't work. I contacted Garmin who were quite helpful, but it then gave up altogether. I've let them know and just awaiting their response. It's just over 1 year old, but it was short of that when I first emailed them.
