Was thinking of splashing out on an Edge 205 for the bike, reason being current bike computer is broken and have lost count of the ones that I`ve had that broke as well, so thought may as well get something with less moving parts :girl:

Been watching Ebay and they seem to be going for nearly as much as I can get one new !! Any comments on them, I know quite a few have the 705 on here but thats a bit much for me and for my wallet.

I am forever hopeful that this isn't a mistake and that they get some in stock !

yer saw that and like you kept thinking stock will arrive but reading on yacf, it would seem its been like that for months...... Trading standards seem to be interested ! Have found it for £100 inc p&p which seems good for brand new. Not as good as PCW tho :girl:

i brought one in 2007 off fleabay for about £85 BNIB. It was shipped from nottingham but i think was originally a USA one.

Once I learnt how to use the thing it was great. I originally set it to waypoints at junctions of roads but this made it a bit difficult to plot the routes. now i use mapmyride.com and upload the route to the unit. This produces a line to follow on the screen, it has allowed me to plot routes to ride in areas of the country that i don't know. I'd recommend one if you can't stretch to the new ones with maps on.

£85 seems to be the rate for used at the moment, I`m watching all the time to see what comes up, theres a 305 on just now, which i think may go for a decent price, might try my hand on that, currently at £52, 2 days to go.

If you can I'd go for the 305 (that's what I've got) with the exception of the colour mapping that the 705 does and its a more compact unit. However if you can stretch your wallet even further, I'd go with the 705, the get me home function with colour maps seems really good.

i can find my way home  ok, its just bike computers don`t seem to last long, ideally these are all contained with no need for sensors magnets etc, bar the ones that do cadenace of course, I`ll keep an eye on the one on ebay and see if i can get it cheaper, need to set a price limit and see.

I'm really happy with mine, which I got from a fellow CC-er at a very keen price. He even made a mounting bracket for my trike to go with it, which works absolutely brilliantly.

Doesn't help you, I know, but I'd definitely buy another one if I lost this one, and I'd be willing to spend over £100 for it as I find it so useful. Not particularly for the route following feature (although I do use this on new routes) but more for the accurate information about speed, distance, averages etc. Its elevation and gradient % goes a bit haywire at times but that's fun (I was apparently climbing a 63% hill in Hertfordshire a couple of weeks ago!)

My 305 had an odd moment last week - I was apparently doing 137kph!

I've also had to do a couple of hard resets on it in the last couple of weeks so maybe it's on its way out. After a few years of solid use, I wouldn't complain. And I'd replace it with another/re-furb without hesitation. Excellent bit of kit.

McG, a 205 (or even 305) is money well spent I reckon.

first thing you should do is make sure that the 205 has the latest firmware
