I would like to think that over a long distance it could more accurately calibrate the speed / cadence sensor against GPS. Not tried it, but tempted to put my wheel size in wrong and see what happens...
Anyway I've been using mine for coming on a year now, most software glitches have been remedied by updates (did lose a couple of rides early on due to corrupted files).
HRM strap has been 100% reliable, and GPS tracking is really good.
Battery life is good too, can run it with backlight on permanently for hours in the dark.
Swipe interface and map view can be a bit fiddly on the go, and it's too easy to accidently change bikes/profile before a ride, but otherwise a good touch screen interface which works even with thick winter gloves.
Ability to sync rides via Bluetooth to phone is invaluable, and have set it up to auto post all to Strava too (through linking strav and garmin accounts).
