Fantastic guitarist, great bluesman, rock god and all round nice guy. I met him once when he was with John Hiseman's Colosseum II in the late 70's. He was a genuine bloke.
I have seen him several times live but the one that sticks in the memory most was in the late 70,s when i went to see Thin Lizzy at the Manchester Apollo.
That year they did two special Christmas giggs (the other was in stafford if memory is correct) just after they released a collaboration single with Steve Jones and Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols called "a Merry Jingle".
What we did not realise at the time and really only now looking back do i realise what a special night that was , as on stage that night along with Phil Lynott and Brian Downey were all three of the greatest guitarists of the era "Scott Gorham , Garry Moore & Snowy White"
What a night that was with the last encoure being "Merry Jingle" and cannons firing paper snow into the air and coming down making the theatre a white Christmas.
Was never a great fan of his. Saw him live a few times at festivals. Great guitar player no doubt and was responsible for a couple of brilliant Thin Lizzy tracks.
