Very sad, that section is dual carriageway with two lanes each side and clear sight lines. No excuse for what’s happened. I rode along it once to Raglan when my gps died on an audax.

This is true. It's generally flat, not bendy, with wide verges and typically (from memory at least) not terribly busy. When I've encountered TTs there in the past everyone just overtook in lane 2. Or at least grudgingly straddled lanes 1&2.

I've never cycled it though, even when I lived round there.

I'd bring in Mandatory re-tests for anyone convicted of a 'moving traffic violation' even speeding above a certain level like 10mph over the speed limit e.g.40 in a 30 limit

Me too, I've got mates in their 70's who are far more competent drivers than most.
