It has happened to me. However, if you hang the bike up so that the reservoir is at the top then the air will work its way back out again! :0) Saves bleeding it.

I sort of do a combination of several of those... I use a stand, often get a mate to help and when its really bad I pop into my LBS, look feeble and he usually does it in about 1 min and we have a nice chat while he is doing it (and doesn't charge me).

I have a rather nice Park PRS-15 workstand, but for gear fettling I just hang the bike up on the rack I have in the garage. I installed the rack up high on the wall so that gears are about chest height and it takes no time at all.

Gear fettling options.

Use a work-stand and swear as it wont clamp your funny shaped frame?

Get a friend to help, accidentally scraping their knees on revolving pedals?

Invert cycle on front/back lawn getting soggy knees & stung by wasps?

Get LBS to sort it, paying them a tenner to twiddle with the barrel adjusters?
