I should be working, but instead I am playing 'what bike would I like'? I'm sure we've all been there.

Anyway, I can't decide if I like the new Tour de Fer or not.

It looks a bit long, but then it has been lengthened to give more heel room for the panniers. It's also not made from Reynolds tubing like the Croixs. But it does have bar end shifters, which I like, and it's a few hundred quid less than the Croix 20 or whatever the Croix de Fer is now called.

So this is the Tour de Fer, which is £900

Looks good to me, but then it doesn't seem so much different to the Fuji Touring, which Evans was selling for £500 (full price) until recently:

They're bot Cro-Mo steel, both with their own brand finishing kit, both with Microshift bar ends and so on.

What am I missing here - the Genesis has a third bottle cage, mechanical discs, a front rack and guards, but surely that doesn't justify it being almost twice the price?

If you don't want it I'll have it.;)

Looks good to me when compared against the Dawes Galaxy Plus which is a very similar spec but costs £100 more (at full price).

If you wanted something along the same lines but cheaper how about the Revolution Country Explorer at £699. Comes with a high tensile steel fork though.
