Hi all

I'm cycling through Germany soon to Andermatt in Switzerland. I plan to cycle from there through the Alps to Grenoble in France. Can anybody advise the best way to plot a route through the Alps?

Thanks guys

P.S After this I plan to cylce through France, over the Pyreness to Alecante in Spain then throught the middle of Spain to Santander.

Am I mad!.. or is this do-able??

There is a well recognised major route throughthe Alpes http://www.grande-traversee-alpes.com/je-voyage/par-la-route/la-route-des-grandes-alpes.html

That site is French but there are others in English, individuals own trip reports etc and there is a detail route map available.

google La Route des Grandes Alpes and have a good browse around.

Follow the link - about 40 miles south of Geneva.

Thanks Cathryn. My Michelin map of France has the Rhone right in the middle of the binding . It should be quite a flat and relaxing route following the rivers .

It was a nice route....we enjoyed it. This was the day's write up, starting Aix les Bains, finishing in Geneva.

sounds great, if you get the chance spend a couple of hours in Annecy, one of my favourite towns in France: beautiful lake at the foot of the mountains, half-timberedhouses in the medieval centre along small canals. It's well worth it.;)
