Gifts to Australia - any good Au websites like Amazon?

We are looking to buy Xmas gifts for family in Oz. Previously we've just bought them here and posted them but the costs are high. Has anyone used Australian websites to order gifts that they could recommend? Need to order for kids and adults.

There doesn't seem to be an Amazon down under. Someone told us about "Fishpond" but the prices are excruciating on there.

True, but Google can', or at least rarely, gives meaningful firsthand experience.

As far as I know there aren't any comparable Australan sites to Amazon etc

Yes indeed - the first hand recommendation is the best.

I don't have any experience of Oz on the web so Google would be where I'd start I'm afraid

Or there is always the tactic, employed above, of asking around if anyone knows of a good Australian equivalent f Amazon et al. Although I live in England now fir most of my life I lived in Australia and I am nit familiar with any comparable sites.

Amazon are currently exploring the possibility of opening a warehousing operation in Australia. As nothing has been signed or built there's no hope of them meeting your needs before Xmas.

I bought a copy of the Crystal Voyager soundtrack CD from the G Wayne Thomas website on recommendation from @foghat but that’s my only shopping experience with Oz online. If your giftees like surf movie music you could be in luck, it is very good btw.

Phone up the family and in the conversation say, I read on the internet that you don`t have Amazon over there so what do you do for online shopping.
