Glorious Day and Not On The Bike!

After battling with a ferocious head wind on the way home last night, a sunny day with lighter winds was welcome this morning, going to be a good ride this morning I thought.

7 week old AndyLaw Jnr had other ideas. He's had a stinking cough and cold for the last few days and has been projectile vomiting at will. Day started fine he'd just had his feed, his big sister was watching cBeebies in our bed, I was getting ready and the missus was in the shower. It was 7.45 and we were running a bit late but I could still just about be on the bike by about 8 and have time for a shower once at work.

Cue another bout of projectile vomiting by the little man, I was covered, he was covered, the bed was covered. I've never seen so much sick in all my life. I didn't know what to clean first without making more mess. The little man was stripped and baby-wiped. The bed was stripped to stop the sick soaking into the mattress. That just left me, sick all down my chest and dribbling into my shorts and down my legs, plus I stunk. Why does baby sick smell so bad?

After a shower and putting a load of washing in the machine and the missus giving the little man a proper wash it was too late to contemplate getting the bike out.

I'm now sat in the office looking at the blue sky having had to drive in. That's me off the bike till next Tuesday morning now

Having a 10 week old MisterStaness Jr, i can relate to this and offer you my sympathies. You do have an extra long weekend to get out on the bike though!

Aww bad luck- my 10 week old also manages to make cycle commute mornings more frought with timings, fortunately both he and older sis were good as gold today- however grey cloud, 5 degress and 15 mph headwind for 12 miles kinda made it less of an achievement! Fingers crossed wind stays same for journey home!

With my 3rd now about to have his 4th birthday tomorrow... I can still relate.
Its kinda difficult not to be covered in baby puke and not start laughing. Whilst wondering why the hell you're doing it? It's one of those "OMG!" moments...
Nowt worse than a poorly little 'un though. Hope he's sorted soon.

Now I'm really mad, just been out to get a CD from the car and the windsock at the airport has changed direction - I would have had a tailwind in and a tailwind home

Unfortunately the long weekend is completely full, at best I might get an couple of hours free on Sunday at the most so a quick 20 might be just be doable!

TBH I don't know why I just didn't point him at the bed, it ended up all over the sheets anyway, could have saved myself!

You know that would *never* have happened if you'd been on the bike.
