Logging off for a while. The events of yesterday afternoon has knocked me for 6 and has been the last straw for me. Going away for a bit.

Be good and keep biking.

There are other jobs. Ones that don't require working for bigotted tossers who you can now happily get strung up by their gentlemanly bits.
After 17 years I was shown the door without a penny within 20 minutes, dumped because it would cost too much to get rid of me later. The next day I got out on the bike.
Clouds do have silver linings, other doors always open.
If you're going, don't stay away too long. Take care

Get some advice as I'm pretty sure that you can't be fired for a medical condition. We know someone who was fired after about 6 months of working for a company when he went on dialysis. His boss fired him because of his medical condition and the chap went to a tribunal and took the horrible boss & his company to the cleaners. Firing people just because of a medical condition, or while they are off sick is a big no no.

How did that happen, then? You can't be heaved out without compensation if you are blameless.

[Not that it's any of our business; and you may not want to relive it.]

No problem talking about it

The company went into a CVA agreement. Basically they can dump anyone they please, shelve all their debts, but can carry on trading.
A fund is created into which the company pays, this will be used to pay back creditors at 75p in the pound at some time in the future.
My redundancy, less than a third of what I would normally have got, was paid by the National Insurance fund.
Other money I invested in the company makes me one of the creditors too so I may get something back in about 4 years.

CVA is a one time only deal. They had to be rid of anyone that would be expensive to make properly redundant later. So out go all the veterans on a sunny Friday morning.
