Being retired sometimes has downsides, this weather at the moment is keeping me in.Just laziness i suppose, well i have cleaned both rooms downstairs and i mean clean,i even moved the sideboard and the computer cabinet to get behind.I then did the shower room and the first landing toilet and bathroom.Staircarpet was next,a quick shove of Henry the hoover into the girls rooms,i survived. This took over two days, some ironing was done then. But i have made a decision i am leaving this tent sorry house and i am going for a walk.
Ladies and gentlemen i might be some time.
I have read that somewhere before.
So wish me luck,if i don't get out i might just go loopy.

Erm, do you fancy a trip over to Lancashire? My house could do with a good spring clean and I'll pay your expenses. There are some bikes that need a clean as well....

(On a more serious note, this kind of weather gets me excited because it's the best weather for wrapping up well and getting out with a camera. I'm stuck in an office with a view of the very distant West Pennines, gloriously white with snow. What's to stop you?)

Same here - if you make it to Lancashire, do you fancy a visit to Cheshire - there's no snow here so access is good and there is plenty of work I keep finding a reason not to do - yesterday's excuse was the best "I had to learn my Spanish for Thursday's lesson".
5 of the 6 bikes need a good clean, the 6th has just been cleaned, but as soon as I do 42 miles on it this atfernoon/evening there is an exceptioanlly high chance of it needing another clean and the house needs so TLC because I can't find a certain attachment to the hoover and there is a 7th bike in bits around the house. Plus I need to clean up after our landlady's Irish Wolf Hound paid an unexpected visit (totally out of character she had let him out for a pee, and then gone out herself for the evening. problem was she forgot to let him back in, so when I found him somewhat upset outside howling for her, he ended up back at our place despite being wet & rather muddy and before I could stop him was on his usually sofa only I had not had chance to remove the white covers ( ).)

so if you fancy a day out....

Not retired (sadly) but currently recovering from breaking a hand which is keeping me off bike/work so I'm basically house bound and unable to do anything and I think I reached the crazy 1000 yd stare a week ago! lol

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I feel your pain...I have a lot of time to fill...but I am never idle and I never clean lol! (to posh for that..one gets a cleaner you know)
I fill my time riding, bike fettling, and recording. I worked to structured my life so that I have just enough income to survive from rent, this gives me time to ride in reasonable weather (even today) and enjoy my musical side in the rain.

So my tip for avoiding going stir crazy in the rubbish weather...pick up a guitar and rock out!

I also feel your pain. I have been off work for just over a month, with at least another two months ahead of me. Although the fitness is slowly returning, and I am managing to get out on short rides the current weather has put a stop to that! Trying to really build up the fitness level before another operation in early Feburary.
Never been off work for so long in my entire life, it takes a bit of getting used too!

Does it stop you walking? Get out in the fresh air on two feet, not two wheels. Unless it's icy, in which case I understand the problem.

I've got a virus. Every time I move, my brain feels like it's washing around in my head, while at the same time trying to force its way out through my sinuses, and all my joints ache. It's been two days, and I'm fed up!

I did go for a walk yesterday but almost slipped and instinctly went to put my hand out to save my face - would have been rather painful!:s the mrs did buy me an exercise bike so that's been helping break the monotony, not fallen off of that yet!;)

Yeah, I can see icy is a problem.

It looks sunny outside, but I haven't got the will to pull the curtains back...

Ladies and gentlemen I might be some time.
I have read that somewhere before.
Off you go then, Oates - we didn't pack your sandwiches anyway.

Yes, it is a tad cool in the Athens of Yorkshire. I didn't risk the bike yesterday either, so had to wheeze my way round the pavements in a pair of Sauconys. I have to be banged up for a lot longer before I will take up cleaning and tidying.

Oooh! 'ark at you with ya posh la-de-da shower room, first landing toilet and stair carpet. I bet you've got a bit of Lladro on the mantle piece that needs a dust 'n'all!
