Not long since finished reading Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest), all excellent reads. Managed to see the original films (with subtitles) but as usual, they're not as good as the books.

I've also read Sebastian Faulkes 'Birdsong', one of my favourite WW1 books alongside Pat Barker's Regeneration Trilogy... WW1 being another interest of mine.

Pat Barker is consistantly good, whilst I really rate Birdsong and Charlotte Grey some of Sabastian Faulkes' other stuff is a bit average imo.

The Enemy Within - The Secret War Against the Miners by Seumas Milne. A stunning revelation of the devious lies, phoney bank deposits, staged cash drops, forged documents, agents provocateurs and unrelenting surveillance MI5 and the police special branch set out to discredit Arthur Scargill, all sponsored by the evil Thatcher regime is a deeply depressing, though illuminating description of the unprecedentedly savage smear campaign launched by the government of the day. I personally can't wait to follow Elvis Costello's invitation to 'Tramp the Dirt Down' in the near future!

Best read for a long time was Shantaram. Just finished Lolita which is beautifully written and am now on Dawkins Greatest Show on Earth.
