My washing machine is full of water (all the way to the top of the drum) and is slowly dripping out into the flat below.

I've done some googling and it doesn't have a handy drain thingy on the front. I can't move it either.... today is going to fun

this is my downstairs neighbour :rain:

But you can still find time to post here. We are not worthy.
Try taking off the drain hose from wherever its attached and putting it into a bucket. The water should just run through the impeller if you have it below the drum.
Then, on the front somewhere there should be a panel you can open which will give access to the filter/pump. It may well just be full of fluff or scale. Empty the drum before doing this or the flat below will really have something to complain about.

Washing today anyway? Don't you have choccy eggs to eat?

Don't forget, the drum makes a great fire basket.

Wont that make the kitchen a bit smokey?

Post your problem and machine model details here and you will get a solution http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/viewforum.php?f=45
thanks for that... have already looked and am currently working our how i can gravity drain the sodding thing... the pipes are behind the machine and dragging it out might pop the door open (had that happen before). Can't find a manual online (hoover performa 1100), and cant see the model number as that's on a sticker inside the door, which won't open... and can't see any evidence of a drain panel on the front.

Once you've emptied the machine, take the back off and find the level sensor, which is a small chamber attached to a spigot on the back, with a wire attached. Remove it and clean out the pipe, which has got blocked with soap scum. Before replacing it blow and suck down the tube and you should hear a little click as the sensor operates.

i thought the eggs were supposed to be eaten on monday?
No, Sunday.

Traditionally, Christians used to fast through lent, abstaining from alcohol, fat, sugar, dairy, eggs, meat. Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, hence shrove/pancake Tuesday to use up all the leftover tasty treats; and of course Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) in Francophone countries. Then 40 days later, after attending Midnight mass on Easter Sunday, the fast is over and it's time to pig out shamelessly.

Of course, the eggs and chicks and rabbits etc predate Christianity and are part of a pagan spring fertility festival.

Damn... i've been observing lent for 41 days all these years! but like anyone with sense... the only thing worth giving up for lent is Easter Eggs.

However them pesky pagans claim they thought of everything first... but they didn't. Jesus himself started the tradition as he insisted they had chocolate bunnies and easter eggs for pudding at the last supper, which were a brand new thing at the time and he was always up for trying new things .... so that's that myth busted.

The washing machine has now been drained by cutting through the outlet hose on the back and filling up numerous buckets. I'm currently drying the electrics out with a fan heater (it tripped the RCD when i tried to drain it via the spin cycle)... and when that's dry, I'll check the pump/filter, and the solenoids on the hot/cold inlets, as i suspect they are the root of the problem (it's been manifesting, albeit slowly, for some months now.

I didn't think they had chocolate back that far?

Easter is tied to the Jewish feast of the Passover.
